Skin cancer screenings at the BNP Paribas Open

Bringing early detection and practical sun protection directly to one of the world’s leading outdoor tennis events.

Current project

In 2026, Advantage:SKIN helped support complimentary skin cancer screenings in collaboration with La Roche-Posay at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells.

Dr. Jens Thiele volunteered his time to perform skin cancer screenings for tournament attendees. Liam Thiele helped welcome visitors, supported the screening team, and distributed sunscreen and sun-protection information outside the screening center.

The volunteer effort brought together early detection, education, and immediate access to sun protection. It also gave Liam the opportunity to help translate Advantage:SKIN’s youth-led mission into direct service for the wider tennis community.
